Istanbul Hosted the Global Cement Industry Once Again

INTERCEM Istanbul, the meeting point that shapes the future of the international cement industry, took place on September 10-12, 2024 Approximately 500 delegates from 45 countries gathered in Istanbul to focus on challenges and opportunities facing the sector such as global economic developments, changing balances of global trade, import and export markets, alternative fuels and environmentally friendly applications, digital transformation, and logistics. The success of the Turkish cement sector on a global scale has once again been proven at the event.

The conference, which started with an opening speech by Abdulhamit Akçay, Turkish Cement Vice Chairman, continued with Akçay's presentation focusing on developments in the Turkish economy and cement sector, green transformation, carbon footprint, and the sustainability vision for the Turkish cement sector. On the second day of the conference, Board Member Erkam Kocakerim made assessments regarding the latest developments in a panel focused on carbon emissions and green transformation. In a panel attended by Abdulhamit Akçay, Board Member Ender Şahin, and Altınbaş University Rector Prof. Çağrı Erhan, the impact of geopolitical developments on the Turkish cement sector and future forecasts in this regard were evaluated.

While our member companies were conducting their meetings at our stand, the map featuring cement factories and our promotional film shared with visitors throughout the day once again emphasized the size and power of the sector.

At the Gala Dinner hosted by Turkish Cement, with 200 attendees, all stakeholders of the sector came together.

The press release prepared within the scope of the event and including the evaluations of Abdulhamit Akçay, has received widespread coverage in both written and visual media.
