TURKISHCEMENT WAS IN THE AMERICAN MARKET
The last conference of the year at the INTERCEM event, which is one of the most important international platforms, held in many parts of the world in particular for the cement industry, was held in Miami/USA with a wide participation on 15-17 October 2018.
Within the scope of the conference attended by 15 Turkish companies, the info-stand of our Association was visited by many high-level participants, industry representatives and conference participants. Participants visiting our stand were informed about the Turkish cement industry and our companies, and promotional materials were shared with them. On the second day of the event, a presentation titled “Turkey's Role as a Supplier for the East-Coast Americas and Expectations for 2019” was given by Feyyaz Ünal, Vice Chairman of the Board of our Association, about the Turkish cement industry, especially our place in the American market.
Within the framework of the presentation, Feyyaz Ünal mentioned that according to IMF data and the World Economic Outlook Report, the global economy has entered a period of permanent growth and the current situation supports optimistic forecasts for the construction and cement sector in 2019. Ünal also stated that the global economic growth, which has a leverage effect in the construction sector, strengthens the upward movement of cement exports and prices; He stated that the increase in oil and coal prices also indicates that cement prices will increase in the world. Ünal said, “Today, our industry has a 5 percent market share on the East American coast. But the potential to increase this share is quite high. The Turkish cement industry is in a position to meet the needs of this market in terms of quality and quantity, and emphasized the importance of our country in the market.
As part of the two-day event at Trump Doral Hotel, with the participation of 300 people from 40 countries, as the end of 2018 approaches, information about the technological developments in the sector, especially the construction and cement market, and the latest situation in the cement sector were obtained, and projections for 2019 were created.
